We are Nikoleta and Saša (NISA) from Slovenia.
We create nature-inspired abstract art and unique decorative vases from discarded glass bottles, using earth pigments and a variety of materials gathered from nature such as soil, clay, sand, stones, ash, charcoal, coffee, and various spices. Each pigment is hand-ground into fine powder and applied in layered textures, creating depth and organic, tactile surfaces.
We are primarily inspired by nature and its ever-changing scenes.
We observe various details in the natural environment, such as textures, landscapes, autumn leaves, earthy tones, and shapes, which we uniquely portray in our work. The concept of wabi-sabi, which celebrates beauty in imperfection and transience, serves as an additional source of inspiration. Therefore, in our work, we do not strive for perfection but rather focus on expressing natural processes such as transformation, decay, the passage of time, and more.
Inspiraton
We are fascinated by the natural beauty and uniqueness of earth pigments, as they often possess one-of-a-kind shades and textures that cannot be replicated with synthetic colors. Each pigment carries the story and energy of the place it originates from, adding depth and a touch of natural authenticity to our paintings and vases.
